Garda Lake: Lake Garda, 370 sq. km of surface and and 162 km of perimeter, is the biggest of the Prealpine lakes. Glacial in origin, lies between Lombardy, the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige and between the provinces of Brescia, Verona and Trento. Its outlet is the River Mincio, south of Pescheria.The north part is long and with high banks, while the south part, divided by the narrow Sirmione peninsula, is wide and with low banks. The also called Benaco lake is one of the most thriving health and tourist centres due to its mild climate, the beauty and variety of the landscapes, mostly caracterized by Mediterranean vegetation. The most famous part is the Brescia Riviera, between Salò and Gargnano, with its parks, gardens and hotels. The most important south centres are Desenzano and the Sirmione peninsula, which its famous thermal establishments. The Verona side, with Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, Torri del Benaco and Malcesine, has a lot of well equipped campsites. The north side with Riva and Torbole has the most famous sailing centres. Its easy to move from one lakeside centre to another by train, boat or car.
